Galaxy S26 Prices Just Went Up $100: How to Protect Yours

Galaxy S26 Prices Just Went Up $100: How to Protect Yours

If you were planning to buy a Galaxy S26 this fall, the price tag just moved. As of October 1, Samsung raised US prices on most of the S26 lineup by $100, and by $200 on the 1TB Ultra. Retailers have been discounting some models since, but whatever you pay, you will own a phone that now costs more to replace. Here is what changed, and how to protect the one you buy with a case, a screen protector and, for the Ultra, a Magic John camera lens protector.

What changed: Samsung's new US prices

According to 9to5Google, the increase took effect immediately on October 1, 2026 on Samsung.com. Here are the new list prices it reported:

Model Storage Old price New price Increase
Galaxy S26 256GB $899 $999 $100
Galaxy S26 512GB $1,099 $1,199 $100
Galaxy S26+ 256GB $1,099 $1,199 $100
Galaxy S26+ 512GB $1,299 $1,399 $100
Galaxy S26 Ultra 256GB $1,299 $1,399 $100
Galaxy S26 Ultra 512GB $1,499 $1,599 $100
Galaxy S26 Ultra 1TB $1,799 $1,999 $200

9to5Google also reported that the Galaxy S26 FE and Galaxy Z Fold 8 were not raised. Samsung has not given a reason; the article suggests rising memory and component costs are the likely cause, which is the outlet's view rather than a Samsung statement.

Are there still deals?

Yes, in places. Android Headlines reported on October 29 that Amazon was selling the S26 Ultra 512GB well below Samsung's new list price, because the retailer had not matched the increase. The prices quoted in that article were not consistent with each other, so we are not repeating a number here. Retail discounts change daily and may not last, so check the current price on the retailer's page and confirm that you are getting the model you expect (storage size, unlocked or carrier version, and the return policy).

Why protection matters more when the phone costs more

A higher price does not make a phone more drop-proof, but it does raise the cost of a bad day: a cracked back, a scratched screen or a damaged camera lens now sits on a more expensive device. Spending a small amount on protection on day one is the simplest way to reduce that risk. It also helps keep the phone in good shape if you later plan to trade it in or sell it.

We do not claim that any case or film makes a phone immune to damage. What they do is take the everyday hits (keys, coins, tabletops, pockets) instead of the phone itself.

What to get for a Galaxy S26

  • Phone case. Covers the back and edges, which take most of the knocks.
  • Screen protector. Protects the display from everyday scratches. For the S26 Ultra, Samsung says its built-in Privacy Display removes the need for a third-party privacy protector, so we suggest a clear (HD) film.
  • Camera lens protector (S26 Ultra only). Our lens protector is made for the Galaxy S26 Ultra. We do not currently offer one for the other S26 models.

Check each product page for the exact model it fits. Cases and films made for the S26 will not fit the S26+ or S26 Ultra.

Buying tips if you are shopping a discount

  • Buy from an authorized seller and keep the receipt.
  • Confirm storage size, color and whether it is unlocked or tied to a carrier.
  • Check the return window, then test the phone early so you can return it if needed.
  • Order your case and screen protector when you order the phone, so they arrive together.
